Peter and Adey first met at Lawrence University in Appleton Wisconsin in 2012. Adey instantly caught Peter’s eye at a dance party he was hosting at his fraternity. He approached her and asked her to dance. According to Peter she “broke it down for sure!” The next week he hosted another party and made sure Adey was there. After the second party they hung out in his kitchen and she made some late night snacks. Peter says their connection was “magnetic.”
Peter and Adey have since been in a serious relationship for 4 years and live together in Milwaukee. When the time came to pop the question, Peter reached out to me to help with the ring. Peter chose a gorgeous round brilliant diamond set in a classic white gold solitaire setting.
Peter had the ring for a few weeks and was planning on asking her in Asheville NC along the blue ridge mountain parkway. He intended on stopping there on the way back from a wedding in Charlotte SC, but the wedding was changed due to hurricane Matthew. Adey could not make the wedding due to her nursing school rotations. Peter thought they might travel to the cattle moraine to see all of the beautiful fall colors, but again her nursing school rotations put a stop to that idea. At this point Peter was very eager to propose.
One day he decided this was the weekend no matter what. Peter picked Adey up from nursing school and drove to a beautiful park on the south side of Milwaukee. When they arrived she asked why they were there. Thinking fast Peter said, "They have a great hot dog stand by the lake with the best hot dogs and I’m kinda hungry." Peter convinced Adey, who happens to be a fan of sauerkraut, that this hot dog stand has the best sauerkraut in the whole city. So they walked toward the lake to the imaginary hotdog stand. When the stand is nowhere to be found, Peter dropped on one knee and asked Adey to marry him. Adey was completely surprised and of course said “YES!”
Peter and Adey plan on getting married in her home country of Ethiopia in March 2018. The wedding will be just outside Addis in a beautiful region with lakes and forests. They will have a summer reception in Wisconsin shortly after.
